What is a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic?
A Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) is a GP-led, government-funded service for urgent injuries and illnesses that can’t wait for a regular GP appointment but don’t need a hospital emergency department. Care is fully bulk-billed with a valid Medicare card — simply walk in, no appointment or referral required.

What we treat
Urgent but non-life-threatening conditions, including:
- Minor fractures and suspected broken bones
- Sprains, strains and sports injuries
- Cuts and wounds that may need stitches
- Minor burns
- Minor eye and ear infections
- Insect bites, rashes and skin infections
- Coughs, colds and respiratory illness
- Gastro and urinary tract infections (UTIs)
When to call 000 instead
These need emergency care — call 000 or go to the nearest Emergency Department:
- Chest pain or tightness
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe bleeding
- Signs of a stroke (face droop, arm weakness, slurred speech)
- Loss of consciousness
- Severe burns or major trauma
- Poisoning or overdose
